As a commercially qualified Yacht Master with a passion for all things nautical, our CEO, Rob Hunter wanted to bring his love for the sea into the work environment. Rob dreamt of a boat as a boardroom table and a constant symbol of effectiveness for the agency.
So the search for the perfect boat began. It took months of searching to find exactly the right one, all the way from the Dorset Coast, lovingly handcrafted by Roy Gollop. Roy is a member of one of Lyme Regis’s oldest seafaring families. Roy built the boat in his late 80’s and also crafts pots from willow – the last remaining person to create these pots in the south west of England, maintaining a centuries old tradition passed down from generation to generation.
Buying the boat turned out to be the easy bit; we then needed to find someone to not only get the boat into the office but also someone to turn it into a table. Luckily, Jim, our regular builder was up to the job and had the bespoke glass top made, which in itself weighs 500 Kilos!
So, why the sword? Everyone knows the story of King Arthur and his sword – Excalibur. It epitomises all of our core values – Build Trust, Energise and Think First. So that’s the story of the boat and the sword – now it’s time to get onboard!
