We’re incredibly proud to sponsor Ellie Cooke, a world championship medallist and one of the UK’s top under-23 women’s scullers. Ellie is not just an elite athlete but also a dedicated student, balancing her training with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Reading.
Last season, Ellie claimed bronze at the U23 World Championships and was the top-ranked GB U23 sculler.
She also dominated at the BUCS Regatta (British Universities & Colleges Sport), securing gold and two silver medals. Her success is a testament to her hard work and the support she receives from Reading’s rowing programme.
Juggling intensive training and university life is a challenge, but Reading has made it easier. From expert coaching to a strong academic support system, the university ensures student-athletes like Ellie can excel in both areas. Check out her video:
“Reading made it really easy to trust in the programme and the coaches,” Ellie says. “I’ve improved so much here, and my greatest achievement so far has been the April trials.”

With the lessons from last season under her belt, Ellie is ready to push even further. “Going into my second racing season with Reading gives me the opportunity to take everything I’ve learned and give it a good shove.”
At Hunterlodge, we’re committed to helping Ellie focus on her performance without the added stress of financial pressures. We understand the challenges of balancing elite sport and university life, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping her succeed both on the water and in her studies. Supporting driven, talented individuals like Ellie inspires us, and we’re excited to continue cheering her on as her journey unfolds.
