Each year we run a secondary school outreach programme called Advertising Unlocked where we give students from local schools the opportunity to visit and be inducted into the advertising. Through a series of talks and interactive sessions, we worked with 28 students from 4 local schools (Merchant Taylors’, Royal Masonic, Rickmansworth and St Clement Danes) to give them a better understanding of the industry, its processes, and key roles. Hunterlodge has been involved in the initiative since its inception in 2017 and we see it as an opportunity to help bring more diverse talent into the industry.
In the second part of the day, we gave each group the same brief and 2 hours before they pitched their ideas to our board at the end of the day in a “The Apprentice” style format.
“The students were absolutely buzzing afterwards, and both those who came along out of curiosity, and those who had a definite interest in advertising as a career path already, all came away with so much new knowledge.” Liz Pickford, Head of Careers, The Royal Masonic School for Girls
